Camping Bayonne Fêtes

It’s something you could only see in Bayonne: a crowd of thousands of fete-goers, or “festayres” as they say here in the South-West, united by a unique spirit of conviviality. It’s enough to make anyone claim they were a born and bred “Bayonnais” just for a day... or maybe for 5!

All begins on the Wednesday evening with the traditional presentation of the keys to the town: the festivities are now officially launched and won’t end until the following Sunday. During these gorgeous summer days, the dancing and singing never stops and the Basque traditions are respected as honour demands. From pelota tournaments to the Bayonne version of “bull-running” (with cows), parades and concerts, the town comes alive with excitement and the vibrant colours of red and white. An incredible gathering not to be missed!
