If the ocean beaches near your campsite in Aquitaine are ideal for organising sandcastle competitions with the family, those of the Landes great lakes are perfect for a picnic in the shade of the pine trees. From Gastes, jump on your bikes and head off to the lifeguarded beaches of Maguide or Navarrosse on the shores of Biscarrosse Lake. Bathed by calm shallow waters with a temperature of around 25°C, they beckon you to enjoy splashing with all the family, and yes, of course, baby comes too!
The sailing clubs along the shoreline offer canoe-kayaks, pedal-boats and standup paddleboards to hire, for an outing on the water at your own pace. En route for adventure!

Between the lakes, forest and ocean, the routes are innumerable and all lead far away from the everyday! Leave your car at the campsite and set off on the Vélodyssée, the longest cycle track in Europe, as it crosses through Gastes. To the north, Biscarrosse is waiting to recount the fascinating history of French seaplane aviation, an adventure born here in the heart of the Landes. To the south, Mimizan beckons for a surfing lesson on a beach that stretches as far as the eye can see.
On your return to Gastes, make a little detour to visit the harbour, where the multicoloured and often centuries-old boathouses never fail to catch the eye. The perfect setting for a delightful souvenir photo!
