6 Good Reasons to Visit Spain

Travel Inspirations
Written by the Sandaya team

You probably already know that Spain is one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. It has a great deal to offer and it would be difficult (and time-consuming) to list all its attractions. But, just to give you a few pointers, and especially to make you want to spend your holiday there, we have listed 6 good reasons (according to us) to visit Spain. Are you ready? ¡Vamos!

1. Its varied landscapes

Spain is much more than miles of beaches on the Mediterranean or the Atlantic. It is also the mountains to the north of the Iberian Peninsula, the verdant Natural Parks, the lunar landscapes of the Canary Islands and the semi-arid expanses of Andalusia. Thanks to this rich variety of settings, each trip to Spain is different from the last with a whole host of brand-new memories!

2. Its gastronomy

Just thinking about delicious Spanish delicacies like tapas, tortilla, croquetas de jamón, paella, pata negra, and turón is enough to make your mouth water. Food lovers understand that immersing oneself in the culinary delights of a country or destination is one of the finest ways to truly discover its essence.  Don't hesitate to be daring and indulge your taste buds in the divine tradition of Iberian cuisine - it's an experience you will never regret. However, make sure you don’t overdo it...

3. Its heritage and culture

The Iberian Peninsula, with its diverse Arabic, Catholic, dictatorial past, and current constitutional monarchy, boasts a captivating history that has left its mark all over the country. From north to south, a fascinating and enlightening exploration of Spain's historical and cultural treasures awaits you. The sites not to be missed include the enchanting Alhambra in Granada, the awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the majestic Cathedral of Mallorca, the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, and the world-class museums of Madrid. Of course, feel free to personalise this selection to suit your own tastes!

Spain is also a country with strong regional identities! From the Basque Country to Catalonia, including the Valencian Community, discover and admire the cultural aspects of this Mediterranean jewel through its traditions and world-famous ferias.

4. A mild climate all year round (summer and winter)

With a record number of hours of sunshine per year, Spain is THE destination if you want to stock up on vitamin D at any time of the year. Its atmosphere changes with the seasons: a stroll on the beach in winter is not the same as in the summer, and hiking in autumn offers a completely different experience than in spring. Get off the beaten track (i.e. visiting Spain in the height of summer) and see the country in a completely different light. You will be pleasantly surprised (and won over) by its variety!

5. A relaxed and fun way of life

In Spain, people take their time. No strict schedule to keep to, just follow your desires, eat late, take an afternoon break (the famous “siesta” is a real institution) and enjoy the mild Spanish nights and the festive atmosphere that the country is famous for, a treat for night owls. You will quickly fall in love with the country’s way of life, especially when you’re on holiday!

6. Accessible even at the last minute!

Being organised is all very well when planning a family holiday with your large tribe, but sometimes spontaneity or a change in circumstances means that you find yourself looking for a destination in the sun at the last minute. With its many cities served by air, but also thanks to its easy access overland, it's no wonder that Spain attracts so many tourists from all horizons. In Spain, leaving on a whim has never been easier or more enjoyable (or almost).
