While the Grande Plage is a must-see in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, the resort is also overflowing with little inlets lapped by the Gironde estuary, which couples especially will enjoy. To find them, head for the Pointe de Vallières, which is accessed from the Boulevard de la Corniche. At the foot of the lighthouse, you'll find your own little bit of paradise from which to take in the view of the Bay of Royan, to the north, and the Bay of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne to the south.

Although the Vallières lighthouse is no longer operational, it is open to visitors, and you'll enjoy amazing views over the beaches from it!

On the Pointe de Suzac, see the Fort of the same name, whose task it was to defend the coast during the Second World War.
