Visit Saint-Martin-de-Ré with the family
Once you’ve indulged in a hearty holiday breakfast, it’s time to set off with your clan and make the most of the special family activities to be found on the Île de Ré. Start with a ride on one of the donkeys... who wear amusing colourful trousers, as the island’s tradition dictates! Donkeys in trousers? That’s something you’ll only see at Saint-Martin-de-Ré!
Then take another ride, this time on a bicycle, and follow that with a crazy golf session and a chance for your young Tiger Woods to perfect their swing! Round off your activities with an introductory surfing session or simply go and collect seashells on the beach. And there we are – it’s time to head back to the camping for some rest... before starting all over again tomorrow!
Visit Saint-Martin-de-Ré as a couple
A warning to sports-loving couples... you’ll be spoilt for choice on the Île de Ré! Take your pick from surfing, diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing, stand-up paddle-boarding or – on dry land – a bicycle ride. Do you prefer to take things a bit easier? Then spread out your towel on the island’s finest beaches and soak up that gorgeous sunshine.
If you enjoy touring the local heritage, no problem! Take a stroll around town to discover the sights such as the Vauban fortifications around the harbour, the church observation tower and the Hôtel de Clerjotte and its museum, to name but a few. And, keeping the best till last, treat yourself to dinner for two looking out to the ocean, including a seafood platter and a glass of Charentais wine. The perfect romantic end to the day, tête-à-tête!
