How to enjoy your campsite stay when it rains?

Camping Guide
Written by the Sandaya team

Your Sandaya campsite holiday has got off to a good start with generous sunshine but the rain has made an unwelcome appearance. Whether you are with your family, your other half, or your favourite campers, no need to be glum: discover our 10 tips to keep you busy and turn a rainy day into a wonderful adventure!

1. Get out the board games

Would you rather stay dry? Take advantage of the comfort of your chalet or mobile home to organise an afternoon of board games! The perfect opportunity to come together with your family or in teams and enjoy your favourite game. The (bad) weather passes so quickly when you’re having fun!

2. Dive into the indoor pool

At a Sandaya campsite, swimming is sacred. There’s no question of letting a few clouds get in the way! At the first sign of rain, take refuge beneath the dome of the covered and heated swimming pool for a few relaxing lengths. Whirlpool baths, bubble massage benches, aquatic play areas for young campers. Everyone can bathe in joy.

3. Organise a miniature Olympics… indoors!

For the most imaginative among you, unpredictable weather is the opportunity to turn a dull day into a genuine Olympic event. With friends, family or your campsite neighbours, form teams and set challenges: blind test, time’s up, post-it game, general knowledge quiz… The team with the best overall score wins!

4. Enjoy a long meal together

Rain has the power of slowing down the pace of the day. So, go with the flow! Take advantage of your mobile home and its fitted kitchen to prepare a delicious meal you can enjoy together, or pay a visit to the campsite’s restaurant and continue your discussions well into the afternoon. It’s so nice taking time to be together!

5. Take time to write some postcards

An essential holiday activity, it is also the one you tend to put off until the very last day. So what about taking advantage of the bad weather to write to friends who have not gone on holiday? Yours may be rainy… but they don’t need to know that!

6. Improvise a movie show

When the weather is dull, what could be better than losing yourself in a good film? Settle down comfortably in the living room and savour a moment out of time.
Handy tip: 4* and PREMIUM cottages are equipped with a television.

7. Treat yourself

The perfect moment to stay inside… at the campsite’s spa! After a relaxing break in the whirlpool baths, a visit to the sauna and a plumping massage, all your worries will disappear, and so will the rain!

8. Visit one of our dedicated rooms!

It’s up to you to choose which one: while parents will want to enjoy a fitness session at the gym, the children can meet up with their friends at the games room for some billiards, table tennis or pinball. There’s something for everyone!

9. Embark on an adventure!

Don’t let the rain dampen your adventurous spirit? It’s time to explore the surroundings! Discover the indoor visits available near your Sandaya campsite: the Loire châteaux, caves and chasms in the Dordogne, original museums… Let yourself be amazed!
Handy hint: be sure to ask our reception teams for advice.

10. Do absolutely nothing

And when it comes down to it, isn’t a rainy day the perfect opportunity for snuggling up? While the children have fun colouring in or watching their favourite TV programme, take the opportunity to lose yourself in your novel… Even better: treat yourself to a long and well-deserved nap!

Feel inspired...
