Visit L’Escala with the family
All the kids adore L’Escala, and for good reason: its idyllic beaches stretch for an amazing 7km! Sand, creeks, pebbles, there is something for everyone! And there’s certainly plenty to fill a great afternoon’s bathing just a few minutes away from your Sandaya campsite.
If you’re in search of golden sands, head for the Platja de Montgó, nestling snugly between two cliffs. You can’t wait to hit the water? Then opt for the Platja de les Barques or the Platja de Riells, closer to the town centre. Yearning to lose yourselves in the midst of nature? Set off for the Platja del Riuet, to the north of L’Escala. A spot that is hard to beat for sharing a special moment with all the family!
Visit L’Escala as a couple
To the north of L’Escala hides a veritable treasure to visit together just the two of you: the Empúries ruins that you’ll discover at the end of a sublime walk along the seaside.
In the heart of these ancient remains, dating back some 3,000 years, you’ll be able to explore 2 quite separate towns: a Greek city (Emporion) and a Roman city (Emporiae). Let the marble, mosaics and ceramics add their fascination to your stroll back through time as you enjoy the breathtaking view over the Mediterranean! Although there is a charge payable for the visit, it also includes admission to the archaeological museum to learn even more about the history of this amazing spot.
