And to find out all you ever wanted to know about the biodiversity of the Vendée coast, head for Biotopia at Notre-Dame-des-Monts. Exhibitions, fun activities and 3D experiences, the children will learn so much whilst simply having fun! End your visit with a stroll through the arboretum and see how many of the various local species you can recognise.

Although the beaches of Saint-Jean-de-Monts have plenty of idyllic little corners for you to spread your towel, you might prefer the more intimate ambiance of the vast Vendée-Breton marshes. Only a few minutes from the centre of Saint-Jean-de-Monts, treat yourself to a romantic trip along the “Salt Road” in Sallertaine, aboard a canoe or on the cycle tracks that cut across the marshes.
It’s also the ideal opportunity to stop off in Le Daviaud, an eco-museum that will lead you on a voyage of discovery as you explore this vast natural area and get to know its people. With some 800m² of exhibitions, it offers an immersive visitor trail comprising demonstrations, activities and a chance to meet the folk of the marshlands.
