Camping L’Épine beach

On the island of Noirmoutier, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches! Just like the well-known Les Dames, the L’Épine beach is the perfect place to appreciate the benefits of the ocean with the family, as a couple or with friends. Take your beach towel, pull on a sunhat and set out for a lovely day on the water’s edge.

Once you’ve laid out your towels and set up your parasol on the beach, it’s time to dive into the water! Little swimmers won’t be able to resist the call of the sea and will spend hours and hours splashing in the ocean waters! Add a sandcastle competition and some seashell gathering, and you’ll have all the ingredients for a perfect family day at the beach! Don’t forget your camera to capture these special times! 

At low tide, the ocean retreats to reveal rocks and sand pits teeming with shellfish. So call the gang, pull on your boots, grab a net and try your hand at crab fishing. This family activity will also be an opportunity for your budding fishers to discover the Vendée’s aquatic wildlife. A great way to learn while they have fun!

There is a vast choice of activities for couples at L’Épine beach! Sporty sweethearts can breathe in the invigorating ocean air as they take their daily jog. Or do you prefer to take things a bit easier? Spread out your beach towel and alternate between a siesta and a dip in the crystal-clear waters of the ocean. And romantic lovebirds will, of course, take time to admire the sunset, snuggled in each other’s arms! 

Close to the beach, you’ll find the salt marshes, one of the island’s emblems and definitely worth a visit to learn more about the salt farmers’ work. When you come away, you’ll know all there is to know about this ‘white gold’! And before you go, make sure you stop off at the shop to pick up a little bit of Noirmoutier to take home with you.
