Gruissan, the ideal holiday destination!

A paradise for all who love walking, kitesurfing, lazing on the beach and of course sailing, Gruissan in the Aude has so much to offer it can’t fail to entice you into its nets. Its most distinctive particularity is without doubt its unique layout: Gruissan is one of the very rare villages in Occitanie built in concentric circles, known by connoisseurs as a “circulade”! The narrow streets of its old town wind their way around the ancient castle, which itself offers an exceptional panorama over the lagoons, Mediterranean Sea and Clape Massif. The perfect spot for that holiday essential, the souvenir photo!

Just a few minutes away by following the seashore, make the most of the very special setting offered by our Sandaya campsite to explore Gruissan and its surrounding area. And as some kick back and relax in the campsite’s heated swimming pools, or the calm waters of the Mediterranean, others will be enjoying the outdoor sports activities. Then, when it’s time for a rest at the end of the day, discover our fully-equipped cottages and our camping pitches in the midst of nature.

Visit Gruissan with the family

If there’s one spot not to be missed during your visit to Gruissan with the kids, it’s the beach! But not just any beach... If Gruissan counts no less than 5 of them, it’s the chalet beach that we recommend you discover first of all. Renowned throughout Aude, this unique beach is surrounded by some 1,300 chalets on stilts that undeniably add to its charm. The perfect spot to enjoy a delightful afternoon with the family.

And to find out more about Gruissan’s natural heritage, how about a stroll through its famous salt marshes? Set your heading for Île Saint-Martin and a guided visit that offers a chance to watch Gruissan’s precious “fleur de sel” being harvested. But keep your eyes wide open, it’s also home to thousands of migrating birds!

Visit Gruissan as a couple

The most gorgeous walk in Gruissan? The one that leads you to its castle! From the old village dating back to the 11th century, the streets lined with boutiques and restaurants will take you all the way to the famous medieval tower. It may be all that remains of the castle today but it still offers a 360° view over Gruissan’s superb landscape!

Standing high above the town and its coastline, the Clape Massif also has plenty of surprises in store for those in search of a romantic moment together. Traversed by innumerable hiking trails, you’ll be able to visit the Notre-Dame des Auzils chapel and its famous marine cemetery. An opportunity to lose yourselves in the heart of unspoilt nature and the town’s rich maritime history!
