Minerve, the ideal holiday destination!

Listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages of France”, Minerve never fails to captivate with the charm of its medieval narrow streets that bear witness to its past as a Cathar stronghold. Whether you arrive from Béziers or Narbonne the route is truly enchanting, offering tempting glimpses of your destination in all its glory. Finally, perched high on its rocky outcrop, Minerve comes into view, its age-old stones surrounded by the canyons and surprising natural bridges carved by the River Cesse. You haven’t even entered the town and all the magic is already there!

Minerve is certainly an unmissable halt during your break in the south of France, but we recommend you set up your holiday base down at the seaside. This is where our Sandaya campsite is waiting to welcome you, close to the endless beaches of the Hérault! That way you’ll be able to combine visiting the finest tourist spots with bathing and sliding in the swimming pools of the water park, outdoor sports and, for the kids, all the free activities in the mini clubs. Camping pitch, fully-equipped cottage for two or with your friends, you’ll have every choice!

Visit Minerve with the family

A visit to Minerve is a journey back through the centuries, to the time of the famous crusades. This former Cathar city still bears the signs of its medieval past with so many fascinating secrets to uncover with the family... For that all you have to do is venture into its labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets! Follow the history of Catharism and of Minerve itself at the Hurepel museum, most notably through its historical reconstruction of the 1209 crusade.

The sun’s high in the sky? Take the kids off to explore the innumerable footpaths that surround the town. They’ll adore seeing at close hand Minerve’s surprising natural bridges, one of the geological curiosities in this land of the Cathars!

Visit Minerve as a couple

In addition to the charm of the old town centre, its cobbles worn smooth by time, Minerve offers innumerable sublime panoramas over the surrounding vines and limestone plateaux. And to make the most of your romantic day together, don’t hesitate to head off on one of the many footpaths ready to explore its incredible natural heritage. Our personal favourite: La Malvoisine, a circular walk that looks out over the gorges of the Brian Valley. Prepare for some breathtaking views!

You can also make the most of your visit to sample the fruit of its exceptional vineyard (with moderation of course!). This is the rocky, sun-drenched landscape of the Haut-Languedoc that gave birth to the famous AOC Minervois appellation, so you could hardly be better placed to enjoy a little wine-tasting!
