Clapiers, the ideal destination for your holiday
Just a few minutes away from Montpellier, Clapiers enjoys an exceptional situation that offers, within a radius of 20km, beaches bathed by the Mediterranean Sea and wild landscapes in the Hérault valley. And it is in the heart of this natural setting, in the peace and quiet of a distinctly Occitan village, that we invite you to drop your bags for the summer.
Here, the sun is always high in the sky and your Sandaya campsite has everything planned to ensure you make the most of it: waterslides in the bathing area, outdoor playgrounds for the kids, tennis and petanque courts for the parents... There won’t be a dull moment in sunny Clapiers! So that leaves just one question before you book, which do you prefer: the comfort of a mobile home, the originality of a lodge tent or the simplicity of a camping pitch?
Visit Clapiers with the family
Come with the family and enjoy a great breath of pure fresh air as you explore the paths through the Clapiers forest! Specially designed for young adventurers-to-be, take the children to explore the Bois du Romarin and its discovery trail with a difference. Guided by the “Schmakroums”, friendly little creatures of the forest, they’ll have fun solving a series of puzzles and riddles to learn more about the natural world that surrounds them.
Not much further away, they’ll also be able to gaze in wonder at the lions, zebras, rhinoceroses and monkeys at the Montpellier Zoo! Entrance is free, only the amazing Amazonian Greenhouse makes a charge, an exceptional place to visit that will immerse you in the heart of a tropical rainforest.
Visit Clapiers as a couple
After all the bustle of the city in Montpellier, enjoy the simple pleasure of strolling hand-in-hand through the peaceful atmosphere of old Clapiers. Taking the church belfry as your marker, wander through the alleyways and backstreets until you reach the edge of the forest. And, to add a little art to your walk, follow the “Painters’ Trail” that will take you on an exploration of the works of Max Leenhardt and Georges Dezeuze, two local artists who immortalised the pastoral landscapes around Clapiers.
And if you feel that sudden urge to dive into the calm waters of the Mediterranean, the beaches of Palavas, Carnon and La Grande-Motte are only a few minutes away by car!
