Not to be missed

The “Tour du Cotentin” hiking trail
This hiking trail (GR 223) runs along the Normandy coast from the Seine estuary to Mont-Saint-Michel, stretching almost 440 km. Cherbourg, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Barfleur and the Cotentin and Bessin Marshes Regional Natural Park are just some of the places to stop over on this coastal route.
A boat trip
Let the beauty of the Cotentin coastline unfold before your eyes as you sail along on a boat trip – a dream come true! A great experience for families or for couples alike.
Visit Cherbourg
This port is the largest town in the Manche department, and ideal for a family day out. Things to do and see include a visit of La Cité de la Mer maritime museum, the port and the umbrella factory, inspired by the film Les Parapluies de Cherbourg featuring Catherine Deneuve.
The Vélomaritime cycle route: discover the region by bike!

If you’re a cycling enthusiast, you’ll be delighted to know that you can explore the Cotentin region on two wheels along the Vélomaritime cycle route, that will take you past beautiful beaches and through the bocage. You’ll come across some of the most stunning sights in the Manche department, including Cherbourg, Utah Beach, Gatteville lighthouse (the second largest in France) and Barfleur, officially listed as one of the “most beautiful villages in France”.
